1954 Press Photo Battleship USS New Jersey on the Hudson River in New York

U.S. New Jersey - New York - The 45,000 ton battleship, USS New Jersey, one of the largest and most powerful warships in existence, heads up the Hudson River past the lower end of Manhattan here yesterday on arrival for a two day visit to the city. The New Jersey is one of nine warships of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet open for public inspection this weekend as part of Armed Forces Day observance.
