Rockets - Vanguard. Engineers prepare the third stage or nose section of the Vanguard rocket before the scheduled attempt to put a satellite in orbit Wednesday at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The attempt was postponed until Friday while further adjustments were made. The Friday launching attempt failed. At left is C. reeves of Pan American and with him on the Vanguard tower is W.
