Representative James Haley, Democrat of Florida, got some pointers on the bow and arrow given to him by two members of the Taos tribe of Indians from New Mexico. Severino Martinez, 80-year-old tribal council spokesman, and Quirino Romero, right, governor of the tribe, presented the bow and arrow and an elkskin-buffalo hide quiver to Haley in appreciation for his sponsorship of a bill restoring tribal ownership to the sacred Blue Lake area in northern New Mexico.

Photo is dated 1968.

Photo measures 8.5 x 8.25 inches.
