Piccard, Jean (Dr) (Dead). Minneapolis. Dr. Jean Felix Piccard, famed stratosphere balloonist and cosmic ray researcher, died at his Minneapolis home today. He was 79. Piccard retired in 1952 from the University of Minnesota where he served as lecturer in department of aeronautical engineering.
