Refugees (General) (Fled to West). West Berlin, Germany. Willie Lorenz, 45, his wife, Lena, 40, and their children, Karl, 17 and Brigitte, 6, are a typical east German family that fled to the west because of communist pressure and the new communist "family law" which is expected to be brought before the East German Rubber Stamp Assembly early this year. Communist German Minister of Justice Hilda Benjamin has spent ten years on this "family law" designed to produce fanatical communists under complete control of the party. One of the various provisions of the law would allow a man, provided he is a good "party member" to divorce his wife on "ideological grounds. All he does is claim that his frau is not in harmony with the communist line and he is free. The Lorenz family is shown at a refugee camp in West Berlin with Mr. Lorenz giving religious instruction to the children. Photo at right is a file picture of "Red Hilda" Benjamin the East German Justice Minister who masterminded the new communist family law.

Photo is dated 1955.
