United States Air Force - Bases (Alert). Tampa, Florida. Military jets sit on flight line at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa as usual Thursday while bases around the nation are put on standby alert, apparently because of heightening tensions in the Middle East. Base officers and spokesman for the United States Readiness Command headquartered at MacDill refused comment on status. However, one source said Readiness Command had been on standby for the past 24 hours.
