New York - Hotels - Waldorf-Astoria (Old). One of the most famous landmarks in old New York was the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria before it was torn down to be replaced by the towering Empire State Building. Here is the old Waldorf on the Southwest Corner of 34th Street and Fifth Avenue before the hotel closed its doors in 1929 and moved in to its sumptuous new structure on Park Avenue.
