The Kariba Dam located by a man-made lake in Rhodesia, Africa. Rising above part of the world's largest man-made lake that is forming to eventually cover some 2,000 miles is the Kariba Dam, to be opened by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on the River Zambezi, Rhodesia, next Thursday (May 17). Its opening will mark the completion at a cost of $80 million ($224,000,000) of the first phase of a $113 million ($316,400,000) project to supply power to Rhodesia's copper belt. The lake itself, which will provide a planned livelihood for fisherman, has meant the resettlement of farmers and tribes and an Operation Noah's Ark for the animals which abound in the area.
