1938 Press Photo Conference, Hotel Biltmore to negotiate end of soft coal strike

Description
As coal conference broke up with no agreement reached New York City, John L. Lewis, chief of the United Mine Workers, Dr. John R. Steelman Chief Federal Labor Conciliator, and James Bewet, Stillman's aide, as they left the conference room at the Hotel Biltmore, early May 11th after the long hours of negotiation in the deadlocked soft coal situation. No agreement had been reached when the conference broke up, but the soft coal operators and the Union officials agreed to resume negotiation on the afternoon of May 11th.
