Description
Displaced persons camp was never like this! Genoa, Italy: Shy, but thrilled by the comparative luxury of the nursery aboard the U.S. Army transport General Stewart, Erika and Ingrid Braun play quietly in a corner of the room whose walls are decorated with murals from Fairy Tales. The little girls, who have spend most of their lives in displaced persons camps, are some of the 860 Balkan and Baltic nationals en route to Canada for resettlement under the International Refugee Organization program.

Photo is dated 1948.

Photo measures 6.25 x 9 inches.
