5/11 - Modesto, California: Jon Lindbergh (above), 20-year-old son of famed "Lone Eagle" Charles A. Lindbergh, discovered one of the largest submerged caverns in the West after diving more than 150 feet under water, it was disclosed here 5/10. Young Lindbergh, a member of a scientific party exploring Bower Cave in the Sierras some 65 miles northeast of here, made the discovery 5/9.
