Schemes and dreams - As a curious cub and heir to the throne, Simba (above left) is seen as a major obstacle by the jealous Uncle Scar, who schemes to take control for his own evil purposes in Walt Disney Pictures' all-new animated musical-adventure, "The Lion King." Below: The eccentric but wise baboon Rafiki helps Simba to see that the spirit of his mighty father, King Mufasa, lives on within him and encourages the young lion to return to Pride Rock to confront his tyrannical uncle. Produced by Don Hahn and directed by Roger Allen and Rob Minkoff, Disney's 32nd full-length animated feature includes five new songs by legendary singer/songwriter Elton John and 1992 Academy Award-winning lyricist Tim Rice ("Aladdin") with an original score composed and arranged by Hans Zimmer. Thomas Schumacher and Sarah McArthur served as executive producers. The screenplay is by Irene Macchi and Jonathan Roberts and Linda Woolverton. Buena Vista Pictures distributes.
