Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
"Fines Forgiveness Week" will be observed by the public libraries in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes beginning Sunday. Any overdue book returned to a library agency from Sunday through Saturday, March 22 will be accepted without fine as a special inducement to patrons to return all books, even those withdrawn years ago. Discussing plans for the observance Thursday at City Hall are (from left) John Hall Jacobs, New Orleans librarian, Captain Neville Levy, vice-chairman of the New Orleans public library board, George King Logan, New Orleans assistant librarian, and Councilman Glenn P. Clasen.
