Albany, California, May 10 - Longden nears 4000 mark - Veteran jockey Johnny Longden, saddle in hand, checks weight before start of racing at Golden Gate Fields here yesterday. To date, Longden has ridden 3,995 winners which has been eclipsed by only one other jockey. He is Gordon Richards of England who has chalked up 4,417 wins as of last April 30.
