VFW District Scholarship winners congratulated by Bernard Parun. VFW 1st District Scholarship contest winners being congratulated on making highest scores in an achievement test by Bernard Parun, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee. Left to right--Miss Linda Lee Smith of 4717 Marigny Street, representing Alcee Fortier High School, Mr. Parun and Walter J. Kirsch III, 535 Arlington Drive, of St. Aloysius High School. Both contestants will go to the VFW state finals to be held in Alexandria on Saturday, on May 16. The winner will receive $1,000 for tuition fees to any college in the country at which he is matriculated. For the first time in New Orleans the largest number of both schools and students participated in this popular contest. 48 states by the VFW. students
