1953 Press Photo John Jankowski and Wife Held in Child Abuse, Cleveland

1/9 - Cleveland, Ohio: John Jankowski (left) and his wife Mary (right), both 26, were being held by police here 1/9 after their 3-month-old son was found in critical condition from hemorrhages on both sides of the brain. The father, a 140-pound laborer, told police he "squeezed the baby's head" because its crying got on his nerves. The baby seemed to be in a coma 1/8, the mother said, and she called a doctor who sent the infant to a hospital.
