Mrs. Mildred McAfee Horton, above, wartime director of the WAVES and former president of Wellesley College, said she will investigate "Privately" the reasons the State Department issued and then withdrew an invitation for her to serves as U.S. delegate to UNESCO. She said she was informed that the appointment could not be made because her security examination had not been completed in time to send her nomination to the Senate.
