A Houma man was injured critically today in a spectacular explosion and fire at a Shell Oil Co. gas processing plant here. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Charlton Rezands identified the injured man as M. G. "Mack" Laird, 37. A spokesman at Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma said Laird was in critical condition and suffered third degree burns over 80 to 90 percent of his body.
