1984 Press Photo Garrison Roots creation of 'In Hopes of Not Being Seen' at CAC

Preceding the coronation ceremony was the most ephemeral kind of art show imaginable,a display of "Edible Art" which quickly disappeared into the mouths of appreciative guests. Imaginative examples of food art were created for the exhibit by local artists and chefs. Among the most eye-catching contributions was a "Garden of Eatin" prepared by Karl Duchmann of the Whole Food Company; it reproduced a tropical jungle with inventively sculpted fruits and vegetables (including palm trees with carrot trunks and serrated leaves of red and green peppers). Also noteworthy was "Liver Paint Tube" by Steve Sweet and Barbera Bernard. This recreation of a paint tue in chopped liver was covered with sesame seeds that had been colored with green vegetable dye. Most of these creations will be on view at the CAC through March 18, as will installations by some of the "Wearable Art" artists and by Garrison Roots of Boulder, CO.
