1935 Press Photo Eucharistic Congress-View of Cleveland stadium human monstrance

Religion - To give Orleanians an idea of what a Eucharistic Congress looks like, the Item-Tribune reprints this striking picture from the last Congress, the seventh national gathering, which was held in Cleveland in 1935. At the Cleveland stadium 20,000 person formed this living monstrance with an altar in the center of the figure. In the closely packed stand at the top of the picture can be seen a small portion of more than 100,000 persons who filled every available seat and overflowed into the approaches and entryways for the demonstration which climaxed the Congress.
