1956 Press Photo Barge carrying two sections of roadway broke loose in high wind

Carrying Two Sections of Roadway for the Lake Pontchartrain causeway, this is one of two barges which broke loose from moorings alongside the structure Wednesday night. It ended up on the seawall at Franklin ave. and Lakeshore blvd. The other runaway was found in the lake near the New Orleans Airport and secured by tugs. They were driven to the south shore of the lake by strong northwest winds.
