1972 Press Photo Authentic sugar cane crusher; overseer's house in background

Sugar Cane crusher, Overseer's House in background; Borden Research Plantation - LSU's Eloquent Relic of Ante-Bellum days.; A mule turned this authentic sugar cane crusher which extracted juice from the purple stalks. Juice was then cooked and strained until crystals were formed.
