Clamshell bucket unloader towers over dock facility at Allied Chemical Corporation's new fertilizer complex at Geismar, Louisiana. The unloader, with an average capacity of about 1,000 tons per hour, was designed and built by Dravo Corporation, Pittsburgh, to handle incoming dry bulk material from ships and barges. Its boom, extending from a movable rail-mounted tower, is positioned 101 feet above mean low-water level.

Photo is dated 1967.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
