U.S.S. Ticonderoga Near Coast of Nagasaki, Japan. The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun released this picture, identifying the ships as part of the U.S. 71st Task Force heading southwest off the coast of the Goto Islands, near Nagasaki, Southern Japan, today. It identified the aircraft carrier in the foreground as the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. The Pentagon announced today that the task force, which was been operating in the Sea of Japan, is being redeployed to the Yellow Sea on the eastern side of Korea.
