1973 Press Photo U.S. Postal Service new uniform, walking shorts and long socks

The United States Postal Service Tuesday authorized walking shorts, such as those above, as part of the official uniform. The Service said the shorts may be worn after April 1 but must be worn with long black knee-length hose.
