Mwami (King) Mwambutsa, ruler of the new nation of Burundi in central Africa, and his wife attend independence ceremonies Sunday in Prince Rwagasore Stadium in Usumbura. Neighboring Rwanda also became independent on Sunday. They had been a United Nations trust territory administered by Belgium.
