Sen. Ed Muskie announces his candidacy for president on T.V. Senator Edmund S. Muskie of Maine, announces on national television that he is a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday. Photo was made from a television monitor in New York. In the 10-minute paid political announcement which was taped Monday in Muskie's Kennebunk, Maine, home, Muskie said, "I have come home to Maine to announce my decision to seek the office of president of the United States."
