U.S. Senator Edmund Muskie, D-Maine, watched intently as he and California state democratic leaders listened to President Richard Nixon delivering the State of the Union message on television Friday night. With Muskie before the start of a private dinner were Assembly floor leader Walter Karabian, left, and Senate President pro tem James Mills. The expected Democratic presidential candidate came to Sacramento to address a Democratic State Central Committee Convention today.
