Bishop Lesslie Newbigin of the Church of South India (left) expressed support Tuesday of a Plan of Union for combining nine Protestant denominations into a new church. The bishop's Asian church pioneered in a merger of different Protestant organizations 22 years ago. He discussed the plan here with United Methodist Bishop James K.
