1963 Press Photo Artist's drawing of lift lock and bridge at NASA MS test site

This artist's conception shows 20-foot lift lock and Bascule bridge now under construction at the NASA Mississippi test operations in Hancock County, Mississippi. Because of their tremendous size and weight, barge transportation will be the principal means of moving moon rocket components from assembly plants to Cape Kennedy via the testing ground in Mississippi. The facility will cost in excess of $500 million and is due for completion in 1964.
