Lucien Raol, an editor of militant Breton newspaper "l'Avenir," also is secretary-general of Action Committee for a New Status for Brittany. This is one of the groups which are Brittany's astronomists and they are fighting for what they regard as their rights. The Bretons are descendants of ancient Celts who held northwest trip of France--Brittany--as independent entity until 16th century. Under French domination, their culture and seafaring tradition have faded.
