1963 Press Photo Delta rocket launches Explorer 17 satellite from Cape Canaveral

Three-stage Delta rocket bathes launching pad in flame and smoke as it blasts off tonight to propel the Explorer 17 satellite into orbit to make an extensive study of the earth's atmosphere. It was the 16th straight successful launching for the Delta.
