Discovery that 7-month-old Anna Ritola suffers from sudden infant death syndrome, characterized by short periods when her breathing stops, has led to care that has helped her survive the condition which kills an estimated 10,000 infants each year. Her mother, Sandi, a nurse, discovered the condition, and she and her husband Donald listen for the sound of a heart monitor alarm which tells them their child has stopped breathing. They get Anna's breathing started again by touching her.

Photo is dated 1974.

Photo measures 8 x 9.5 inches.
