South Vietnamese troops clean a 50mm machine gun atop bunker on Namyit Island in the South China Sea. South Vietnam has some 200 soldiers occupying five of the 11 islands that form the Spratly Archipelago. Other islands in the coral reef chain are claimed by Taiwan, China and the Philippines.
