1960 Press Photo Dacca, Pakistan workers visit outdoor "haberdashery"

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
There are no fancy racks or clothes hangers to display them, but these cast-off garments are mighty welcome to poor workers visiting this outdoor "haberdashery" in Dacca, East Pakistan. Large quantities of old clothes from all over the world arrive in Pakistan each year for use by the poor. These workers are selecting garments from a pile stacked near a river in the city.

Photo is dated 1960.

Photo measures 9 x 7 inches.
