Governor J. Millard Tawes, right, welcomes Senator Wayne Morse (D-OR) in Maryland's May 17 presidential preference primary against Senator John F. Kennedy (D-MA). The primary will be issued the state's 24 votes at the Democratic convention least the first ballot. The Governor told Morse he is happy Maryland voters will be given a choice of candidates in the primary.
