Adam Clayton Powell, 3rd, son of the controversial Harlem congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., and Powell's former wife, jazz pianist Hazel Scott, at his desk at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he a senior majoring in political science. Young Powell, who is a soft-spoken six-footer and 20-years-old, hopes to make career in broadcasting journalism. He works for MIT's student radio station and spends summers with a national television network.
