Dr. Max Rafferty who will become California state superintendent of public instruction next month, is shown in his Sacramento home. Rafferty is a foe of the "life adjustment" theory of education and many educators and parents will be watching what happens when Rafferty takes charge of one of the world's biggest school systems. Progressive education is on its way out in California.
