Writer James Phelan, who worked on a biography of Howard Hughes with former Hughes assistant Noah Dietrich, smiles during interview Sunday in New York. Time Magazine said Sunday that much of Clifford Irving's alleged "autobiography" of Hughes was based on pirated sections of Phelan's unpublished manuscript.
