1973 Press Photo Senator William Proxmire receives athletic plaque and exercises

Senator William Proxmire, D-WI, receives a plaque from Thomas Elrod, left, of the Amateur Athletic Union honoring him as its first honorary chairman. At right is Senator Mike Mansfield of Montana. After receiving the award Proxmire dropped to the floor and did 75 pushups in 59 seconds.
