The Gadsden Times was awarded the Alabama Civil Defense Association's Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance by the News Media at the organization's annual convention in Mobile Thursday. It was the second straight year the award went to the Times. Darwin Kelly (R), Headland, retiring president, presents the plaque to Woodrow Stephens (C), President of the Etowah County Board of Revenue, who accepted on behalf of the paper. The Times was nominated by T.J.Hilbus (L), Etowah County Civil Defense director.
