1975 Press Photo Maurice Stans arrives at US District Court in Washington

Former Commerce Secretary Maurice H. Stans arrives at United States District Court Wednesday to hear the verdict for five admitted violations of federal election laws while Richard M. Nixon's 1972 presidential campaign manager. United States District Judge John Lewis Smith fined Stans $5,000. He could have been sentenced to one year in jail on each of the five counts.
