Swedish boat builder Per-Erich Pech, and his wife, Syrene, and son Rudi, happily landed their 27-foot sailboat at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, yesterday ending a tough 53-day Atlantic crossing from Africa. The trio and their motorless boat were buffeted by a 5-day storm and then detained for 2 days by armed soldiers when they pulled into a Dominican Republic port for a rest. They plan sailing onto Boston where Pech plans to study boat construction.
