U.S. Marine and Coast Guard crews roundup oil soaked debris along the banks of the Mississippi River near New Orleans. It is then floated downstream and removed and the oil is scraped off the water. An estimated 289,000 gallons of crude oil spilled into the river when a barge struck a bridge and ruptured on June 21. Officials say the cleanup operation could take several more weeks.
