1965 Press Photo Adlai Stevenson raises hand in abstention at United Nations

Adlai Stevenson, United States Chief delegate to the United Nations, raises hand in abstention on a resolution for suspension of hostilities in Santo Domingo. Scene was today as the United Nations Security Council requested the suspension of hostilities be transformed into a permanent cease-fire. Vote was 10-0. France submitted the resolution. Stevenson explained he abstained because of lack of reference to the OAS.
