Richard Neustadt, permanent chairman of the Democratic Platform Committee, addresses the opening session of the committee Friday in Washington. He told the delegates that the platform drafting committee will have to operate on a crash basis to prepare a complete set of planks by midnight Saturday--or at the latest, midnight Sunday.
