A volunteer checks a carton of food in one of the distribution points which were being stocked today for tomorrow's scheduled opening of a mass food distribution for the poor. The food distribution program was set up by Randolph A. Hearst in an attempt to gain the freedom of his kidnapped daughter, Patricia.

Photo is dated 1974.
