1964 Press Photo Construction of NASA's S-II test stand at Mississippi Test site

Progress continues on the superstructure of the first S-II (second stage) test stand at NASA's Mississippi Test Operations. The stand, which will tower almost 200 feet high, is being built with more than 10,000 cubic yards of concrete and 2,300 tons of steel. Excavation for a second S-II stand is underway nearby.
