Description
The navigation lock at NASA's Mississippi Test Operations is an important pacing item in the construction of the rocket test facility. The lock, shown here looking west, will life barges from the level of the East Pearl River into the main canal system, some 24 feet above sea level. The lock, which will use more than 130,000 cubic yards of concrete, is scheduled for completion in the summer of 1965. A bridge is being built at the east end of the lock to cross the 110-foot wide canal.

Photo is dated 1964.
