1973 Press Photo Customers line up for inexpensive horse meat at Gratiot Market

Horsemeat went on sale for the first time ever since World War II at the Gratiot Central Market in Detroit Thursday, and this was the response. The American Horsemeat Company opened with 20,000 pounds of the inexpensive meat.
